    Love Practice

Warnings: Animal Cruelty My Thoughts Well, this was certainly a surprising little manhua that I stumbled on. The premise is simple, a teen girl is in love with a boy but is too shy to confess. It starts off sweet and the art style is dazzlingly cute! Things quickly take a dark turn once she stumbles on a book called Love Practice and begins to prepare herself for the real confession. I can’t go into too much more without heading into spoiler territory, but this manhua was pretty clever and goes in unexpected directions that I couldn’t have predicted. Even when I thought I knew how things were going to…

    Smash It!

Warnings: Sex, Discussions of Sex My Thoughts Drama nerds rejoice for the year of fuck it! Smash It! is all about a shy girl that decides to take a page out of Shonda Rimes “year of yes” to start overcoming her shyness. Liv feels that she has always been on the sidelines next to her two rockstar friends, Eli and Dré. She is hopelessly in love with Eli and fears taking the leap, feeling that she’s the uncool girl that nobody notices. But owning oneself is not as easy as it sounds, and everything becomes more complicated when other people and feelings are involved. I loved the main characters and…

    P.S. I Still Love You

My Review: What a delightful and frustrating book, this series has become such a guilty pleasure for me to read. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was such a delight because it introduces an understandable dilemma, and the reader follows Lara Jean as she clumsily falls in love with her first boyfriend. Drama ensues when another letter recipient shows up, and Lara Jean’s new squeeze Peter is still very close to his very jealous ex-girlfriend.Lara Jean, I think you half-fall in love with every person you meet. It’s part of your charm. You’re in love with love. In this book we see Lara Jean come into her own more…

    When Dimple Met Rishi

My Thoughts Sigh. It’s hard for me to decide how to start this review because I found myself confused and disappointed when I finished. I think I suffered a little bit from overhype about this book since it was recommended so highly and talked about like mad. I wanted to love this book because everything just sounded so perfect: a strong-willed STEM girl heroine, a clash between cultures, a sweet summer romance with lots of laughs, and one of the cutest book covers I’ve seen in a long time–I was all over it! I absolutely adored the first half of this book. I could sympathize with both of the main…

    I Wish I Weren’t a Djinni

My Thoughts I Wish I Weren’t a Djinni is a run-of-the-mill genie story with a touch of romance. A young man finds a lamp, he gets three wishes, and the djinni wishes to be free. It’s a pretty standard genie story that is very predictable but still manages to be sweet. There is a little humor as the genie tries to figure out 21st-century life. After a while, though, it got a little tiring. “What happens to you once I make my third wish?” For a young adult story with mild hints of romance, there was no instalove and I found that to be refreshing. The connection between James and…

    Little Moments of Love

My Review: For those unfamiliar with Catana Comics, it’s a web comic about the artist and her relationship with her boyfriend. It’s another series that regularly makes its rounds on social media, which I imagine is where most people have seen it. To say that this comic is sweet is an understatement. It is 100% relationship cheese that will be either #couplegoals or gag-inducing depending on the audience. It’s clear that Catana and John are very much in love and they’re extremely cute together. The comics, like the art, are simple. The title pretty much sums up the entire series in general as each strip is like a small snippet…
